The weeks are flying by and we are on the roll down to Easter. There is so much going on in school, it is hard to keep up with it all.
We have had some fantastic trips and visits since my last newsletter. Thanks to all of our Parent/ Carer helpers- without you it would be impossible for our pupils to have these wonderful experiences. Also thank you to the staff for going above and beyond- they were all shattered after Bletchley park and Thrift farm!

OUT AND ABOUT AROUND SCHOOL
|
|
The children in Tintern and Turvey have been exploring how people have learnt about dinosaurs through palaeontology and exploring fossils found underground.
They have searched for hidden bones and built a dinosaur skeleton, erupted volcanoes, told dinosaur stories using a small world set up, made clay fossils and written what they think dinosaurs might say.

Whitby class, have been learning about how to measure mass and capacity. The children have used balancing scales to measure the mass of classroom objects using cubes and have measured the capacity of containers using cups of water.

Melrose class have been practising their sketching skills by creating self-portraits.

Missenden have been enjoying their forest school session- it's even more fun when the sun is out!
We try to keep things simple by allowing pupils to wear their active wear to school on PE and Forest school days! Please help your children to be prepared for school. They will need waterproofs and wellies in school at all times.

Our wonderful Mental Health Ambassadors led an assembly this week all about Patience. They spoke with confidence and maturity and told the story of the very impatient Caterpillar.
Well done children and thank you!

A MASSIVE shout out to Mrs Hickmott for her efficiency and support. For the first time we had to bring in medicine for Stanley (Westminster) to take during school hours. Mrs Hickmott made it very easy for him and for us. I can imagine how many other kids she has to look out for every day, while ensuring the front office also runs smoothly. She is a champ!

Mrs Dunnett has mugged Miss Pullen.
She says; it is like having my Mum at work....always looking out for me and being so patient!
Miss Pullen has the patience of a saint and will go above and beyond for all the children here at Abbeys.
Thank you for being you!

Abbeys SEN Parent Support Group
We know that sometimes having a child with SEN can be quite isolating for parents. In order to help with this, we thought we would hold a parent support group. This would provide parents with a safe space to talk together and share experiences. This will take place on the first Friday of every month. The first one will be on the 4th April from 8:45am in the school hall.
Hot drinks and cake will be provided. We hope to see you there.
