That's it, another term is complete and everyone is ready for a break. We have had a busy term with really targetted teaching in order to secure excellent learning outcomes for pupils. As you know academic study is paramount, alongside a fantastic pastoral and enriched curriculum that prepares pupils for their next stages. This term we have seen success in the development of our mental health curriculum, forest school and house events. So whilst it's been a busy term, it's so valuable to get the balance right for all of our pupils.
A huge thanks to all the teachers, support staff, site staff, kitchen staff, lunchtime team and office team- everyone plays a crucial part in school life and they deserve a good rest!
Happy Easter Everyone!

Over the past few weeks, I have been on a secret mission to gather Easter eggs- one for every pupil in school. We have had so many wonderful donations we were able to have a whole school Easter egg hunt!
BLETCHLEY'S BIGGEST I would say!
SO many thank-yous, as without the kindness of others this wouldn't have been possible... So here we go!
Thanks to Julie James and her colleagues at Asda, Nicola Benson and her colleagues at Sainsburys, Claire Howell and her colleagues at Tesco!
Amazing donations!
Thanks to Harry's Mum - Charlotte who gathered 90 eggs from her family and friends and Louisa [Lunchtime supervisor], whose husband's business - Crystal Clean windows- donated as well.
Thanks to members of staff who added extra eggs to their weekly shopping- Mrs Pullen and Miss Cahill!
Thank-you Councillor Brady and his wife Julie, who donated 50 eggs to the school.
Thanks to 'Olney is kind', who donated to Miss Proctor, Miss Harrison's neighbours and local nursery who were really generous. Lastly, thanks to Mrs Clarke's father in law- from Thermal Instruments ltd-- who donated £100 to school- to buy eggs and prizes for today.
We had so many eggs, we were able to invite Buttons nursery children to come and take part too!
The generosity of strangers is overwhelming and we cannot thank everyone enough. I hope I haven't missed anyone off of my list!

Life Long Ago
The children in EYFS and KS1 have been learning about life long ago... Actually not that long ago- Victorian times. They have been learning about toys from the past and they took part in a toy workshop.
They pretended to be toys,in an active learning session.
Looks like they had a great time!

Statutory assessments
In May, our year 6 pupils take their SATS tests. Whilst some may feel that these assessments are not important, they are a significant marker in a child's education. The SATS tell the Secondary schools where pupils are academically and whether they are ready to start the KS3 curriculum. The SATS are a formal assessment and important for schools- the results are a refection on us as educators and identify the progress we make with our pupils.
After Easter, we have 4 weeks until the SATS and the year 6 children will be increasingly focused on achieving their full potential. We need support from parents and carers. In order for your child to be fully prepared and ready to complete their tests we are offering free breakfast club for all year 6 pupils WB- 8/5/23. All pupils should have early nights that week and do whatever they can to relax.
Revision should be little and often- 15 mins per day only, broken down in to small manageable chunks, using the revision guides provided by school.
After the SATS, we will have some time to focus on writing and time to start thinking about our Leavers celebrations, the prom and Big Camp. All we ask is for pupils to do their best and really focus over the next few weeks.
Year 6 aren't the only year group that complete statutory assessments. Later in May and June, year 1 will complete their phonics screening check, year 2 will complete their SATS assessments and year 4 will complete their multiplication check. There is lots to work towards over the Summer term.

HOUSE EVENTS
Last week we had our first house event. This time it was a team building event. The children wore their house colours and worked collaboratively to build a bridge from newspaper. The bridge that held the most weight won. Congratulations to BLUE team, led by Mr Godfrey. The first house points go to you.
Children will need to wear their house colours on Sport's day too... Parents are also expected to wear the same colours as their children, as the parents' race is back by popular demand!

A huge congratulation to Tyler Jane, who gained a bronze medal with her beam routine. It was a tough competition but she worked her socks off!
Well Done Tyler!

Abir thoroughly enjoyed himself at the MK lightning match. It was all action... I believe there was also a fight! Perhaps the players should have lost some golden time! Abir also got to meet the mascot- Pucky the polar bear!

Laura - Year 3/4- has been busy in the kitchen. She has been making biscuits, working really hard to be more independent whilst cooking.
Well done Laura. They look yummy!

Mrs Louis- White has mugged Miss Tierney. We all agree that Miss Tierney has made a fantastic start to life as a teacher and she has the drive and commitment needed to be really successful in her career.
Congratulations Miss Tierney, much deserved!

An aim for Abbeys this year, has been to raise the School's profile at sporting events. Mr Godfrey has been very busy!
Last week, years 5 and 6 attended a basketball/ netball tournament at Rickley school. They had a great time and won 4 out of the 8 matches. They drew 2 and and lost 2. It was a well-organised, competitive event. Players of the tournament went to Viren, Frankie and Emeric. Well done to you all! And thank you to the year 5/6 teachers that attended.

100% ATTENDANCE THIS YEAR SO FAR!
Congratulations to all of these children that have attended school every day so far this academic year: Hannah, Christine, Amie, Lexi, Lewis K, Jonathan, Freya B, Miraj, Jake, Jasper, Anna, Evelyn, Matilday, Logan, Sebastian, Paige, Bogdan, Tyler-Jane, Jedan, Isabelle, Laci, Bailey, Emily N, Jack and Elijah!
The classes with the best attendance are- BELMONT- 93.7%, MELROSE- 93.4% and BEAULIEU- 93.1%- CONGRATULATIONS ALL.
Please remember that attending school every day is crucial. Attendance that is lower that 90% is a concern and is having a detrimental impact on your child's progress and attainment. Punctuality is also as important, missing a few minutes a day, soon adds up! Children learn better in the mornings after a healthy breakfast! Pupils that come to school in a good place to start learning on time achieve better!

On Saturday the year 5/6 football team entered a tournament at St Bernadettes. They played extremely well, they didn't lose a game. There were some fantastic goals and some amazing saves and they battled to 3rd place overall on goal difference.
Well done to Harry, Artem, Albert, Sonny, Theo, Musa, Oscar and Viren who not only worked incredibly hard as a team, against more established teams, they did us all proud. A football scout from Peterborough has even asked after Theo!
Well done boys!
Abbeys 0-0 Christ the sower
Abbeys 1-1 St Bernadettes
Abbeys 1-1 Whitehouse
Abbeys 1-0 Great Linford

Please remember that at lunch time we provide water and milk to all pupils. Children do not need to bring a water bottle for lunch. A small carton/ bottle that fits into a lunchbox is fine.
All pupils need a water bottle in the classroom to stay hydrated throughout the day. Water bottles do not have to be incredibly large or expensive! Children are encouraged to drink water and not surgery squash- but I know this is not always the preferred drink for children.

The Best of British- Friday 5th May
To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, we will be having a Best of British afternoon on Friday 5th May. This event is for pupils and we are encouraging everyone to dress in red, white and blue for the day- as part of our celebrations.
We have numerous 'British' activities planned- hopefully it will be a day to remember.
And don't forget the extra bank holiday- Monday 8th May!
